Men's Soccer holds halftime lead in loss to Millersville

Espinosa scores goal in first half; Marauders score all seven goals in second half

CALIFORNIA (Sept. 2) – Facing one of the perennial top programs in the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), the Vulcans held a one-goal lead at halftime before suffering a 7-1 loss against Millersville on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.

NOTES
• California (1-1-1) last faced Millersville during the 2018 campaign, which capped a run of 15 meetings over a nine-year period.
• The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when junior Jaime Marcelo Espinosa scored his second goal of the year with assists from freshman Ryan Moessner and senior Jacob Gretz.
• Millersville tied the score at the 51:59-mark before later scoring four goals over a span of just over four minutes.
• The Vulcans were issued a red card in the 67th minute and the Marauders converted a penalty kick to help spark their four-goal run.
• Millersville later added a pair of goals in a span of just over six minutes.
• The Marauders held a 22-3 shot advantage after registering 16 shots in the second half and finished with an 11-3 edge in corner kicks.
