Brink receives weekly defensive league honor

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Aug. 31) – Following his performance in the season-opening weekend, California (PA) junior goalkeeper Justin Brink was chosen the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Brink helped the Vulcans start the campaign with a 1-0-1 record while making his collegiate debut last week. He registered a 1.50 goals-against average (GAA) after making six saves and facing 35 shot attempts over 180 minutes. Brink made one save on eight shots on Thursday in a 2-1 victory against Wheeling at home. The 6-foot-0 junior then tallied five saves while facing 27 shots, including 10 attempts in the final 14 minutes with the Vulcans down to just nine players, in a 2-2 tie at Shippensburg on Saturday.

A native of Tarentum, Pennsylvania, Brink joined the program in 2025 after previously playing two seasons at Tiffin (Ohio) in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). He becomes the program's first goalkeeper since the 2021 campaign to receive the weekly laurel from the league.

The Vulcans return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 2, when they host Millersville in non-conference play at 2 p.m. The Marauders advanced to the PSAC Championship for the second time in three years last fall and were selected as the favorites in the preseason PSAC East poll.
