LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Aug. 11) – The California (PA) men's soccer team was selected fifth in the preseason Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West poll released by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

The Vulcans were picked fifth in the preseason poll for the seventh-consecutive year. Cal finished sixth in the PSAC West standings last fall following a 2-12-2 overall record behind a 0-9-1 mark in league play.

Gannon was the preseason favorite with five first-place votes after capturing its first PSAC Championship in program history. The Golden Knights finished the year with a 15-3-4 overall record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. Seton Hill (11-6-1) was slotted second after earning the remaining first-place vote, while Lock Haven was positioned third in the preseason poll.

In the PSAC East, Millersville earned four first-place votes to rank as the preseason favorite. The Marauders advanced to the PSAC Championship for the second time in three years and finished with an 11-4-4 overall record. West Chester (10-6-3) captured the remaining two first-place votes to finish second and Bloomsburg was slotted third in the poll.

Under the direction of 14th-year head coach Emedin Sabic, Cal begins the year by hosting Wheeling in non-conference play on Aug. 27.
