CALIFORNIA (April 11) – The California (PA) softball team scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning in Game 2 on Saturday afternoon to complete a doubleheader sweep at Pitt-Johnstown in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action, winning 2-1 in Game 1 and 11-8 in Game 2.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (12-22, 7-9) swept their first twinbill since March 21.
• Freshman
Autumn Bielecki (6-6) earned the victory in both games on Saturday while working a combined 7.0 innings.
• Fellow freshman
Indyana Bolyea scored four runs after collecting three hits and one walk.
GAME 1
• Cal recorded its fifth one-run win of the season while yielding one run for the fourth time.
• Bielecki earned the victory after allowing one run (earned) on five hits and zero walks over 5.0 innings (51 pitches).
• Senior
Cheyenne Beayon recorded her second save of the year after working 2.0 scoreless innings of relief.
• The Vulcans stranded runners on second and third in the first before scoring two runs in the top of the second.
• Bolyea, who started in left field, singled and advanced to third on a single by junior center fielder
Alexa Daniels, who moved to second on the throw.
• Senior shortstop
Jenna Hollerich later delivered a two-run single with two outs, 2-0.
• The Mountain Cats cut the deficit to a 2-1 margin on a solo homer by first baseman Jessica Pugh with two outs in the bottom of the fourth.
• In the seventh, Cal preserved the lead when freshman right fielder
Savanna Benish threw out the game-tying run at the plate with a relay to sophomore second baseman
Amarah McCutcheon.
• Hollerich tallied two hits and two RBI from the leadoff spot.
• Senior first baseman
Makaylia Schlosser posted two hits, while Bolyea finished with two hits and one run scored.
GAME 2
• The Vulcans scored six runs on five hits, one error and one walk in the seventh to secure the comeback victory.
• Sophomore
Kirra Davis recorded two hits, one RBI and one run scored, while classmate
Makayla Jerin collected two hits, one RBI, one run scored and one walk.
• Bolyea scored three runs and fellow freshman
Alexa Edmunds posted two hits, one RBI and one run scored.
• UPJ held a 6-3 lead before Cal scored twice in the top of the sixth and the Mountain Casts answered with a run in the bottom of the inning.
• The Vulcans opened the seventh with four-straight hits, including an RBI double by Davis and an RBI single by Jerin, before the Mountain Cats made a pitching change.
• Cal later scored four runs in the inning while posting just one hit.
• The Mountain Cats scored once in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run at the plate before the game ended with a fly-out.
• Bielecki logged 2.0 innings of relief (30 pitches), allowing one run (earned) on three hits.

• Cal returns to action next weekend with a pair of doubleheaders at Lilley Field in PSAC West play, beginning on Friday, April 17, against Edinboro.
