Davis belts team-leading 10th homer; Bielecki sets season high with eight strikeout in Game 2

CALIFORNIA (April 9) – The Vulcans were swept in a doubleheader against IUP in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Friday afternoon at Lilley Field, suffering a 10-3 loss in Game 1 and a 5-1 defeat in Game 2.

NOTES

• The Vulcans were limited to a combined nine hits across the twinbill.

GAME 1
• IUP scored on an error in the top of the first and added three runs in the second before leaving the bases loaded in the third inning.
• The Crimson Hawks scored three runs with two outs in the fifth and added three more runs in the sixth, 10-0.
• Cal avoided the shutout in the sixth with a two-run homer by sophomore catcher Kirra Davis and prevented the run-rule by scoring another run on a passed ball.

• Freshman Indyana Bolyea (1-5) suffered the loss after allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits in 4.2 innings (85 pitches).

GAME 2
• The Crimson Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the fourth before the Vulcans tied the score in the bottom of the inning on a bases-loaded ground-out.
• IUP left the bases loaded in the fifth before scoring four runs on five hits in the sixth, including a pair of triples.
• Freshman Autumn Bielecki (4-6) was saddled with the loss after surrendering five runs (all earned) on 10 hits in 5.2 innings (115 pitches).
• She set a season high with eight strikeouts while making her sixth start of the year.
