INDIANA, Pa. (March 21) – The Vulcans scored a combined six decisive runs in the fourth inning on Saturday afternoon to open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play with a doubleheader sweep at IUP, posting a 5-4 win in Game 1 and a 6-1 victory in Game 2.
NOTES
• California (7-13, 2-0) has won the last five regular-season meetings against IUP.

Makayla Jerin finished with four hits and sophomore catcher
Kirra Davis collected three extra-base hits.
• Davis was one of three players to belt a homer in the twinbill against the Crimson Hawks.
GAME 1
• Jerin and senior
Jenna Hollerich both recorded two hits, while Davis added two hits and one run scored.
• The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the second before freshman right fielder
Savanna Benish collected a two-run single with two outs in the third.
• IUP answered with three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the score, 3-3.
• In the top of the fourth, sophomore second baseman
Amarah McCutcheon delivered a two-run single with two outs.
• The Crimson Hawks responded with a solo homer in the fifth before stranding the bases loaded, 5-4.

Autumn Bielecki (3-4) earned the win after yielding one run (earned) on two hits and two walks over 3.1 innings of relief.
• Classmate
Indyana Bolyea took a no-decision after allowing three runs (all earned) on five hits and two walks in 3.2 innings.
GAME 2
• Senior first baseman
Makaylia Schlosser registered two hits and one run scored, while freshman designated player
Alexa Edmunds finished with two hits, one RBI and one run scored.
• Cal took a 1-0 lead in the third on a leadoff homer by Edmunds before scoring four runs in the fourth on back-to-back homers by Davis and McCutcheon, 5-0.
• The Crimson Hawks scored once in the fifth before the Vulcans added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI single by Jerin.
• Freshman
Abigail Singer (3-1) posted a complete-game victory after surrendering one run (unearned) on six hits in 7.0 innings.
