Vulcans sit No. 13 in Dixon Trophy Standings

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (March 19) – In the second edition of the 2025-26 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Dixon Trophy standings, California (PA) ranked 13th among the 17 league schools announced by the conference on Thursday morning.

The Dixon Trophy standings are based on an average score for every PSAC Championship sport that an institution sponsors. Each conference sport champion is awarded 17 points and a descending point value is given for respective place finishes. The second-through last-place values vary depending on the numbers of teams that sponsor the sport.

The Vulcans have averaged 7.71 overall points through the winter season, which includes 12 of the school's 18 intercollegiate sports. Men's basketball paced the winter sports with 17 points this season.

The men's basketball team won the program's first PSAC Championship since 2008, and the department's first title since winter 2023, after placing second in the divisional standings. The men's indoor track & field team accounted for eight points following an eighth-place finish in the standings at the PSAC Championships earlier this month.

On the women's side, the indoor track & field team accounted for 13 points after placing fourth at the PSAC Championships. The basketball team earned 7.5 points after appearing in the opening round of the PSAC Tournament, while the swimming team totaled two points after finishing 11th in the standings at the league meet.

Reigning-Dixon Trophy Champion Gannon vaulted four places in the standings and now leads the league with an average of 12.29 points after totaling at least 14 points in three winter sports. West Chester climbed to second with 12.00 points following titles in both men's and women's swimming, while East Stroudsburg dropped to third with an average of 11.22 points. Kutztown fell three spots to fourth with 10.94 points , while IUP slipped to fifth with 10.92 points.

Nine different programs have captured the Dixon Trophy since its inceptions, led by Shippensburg with eight titles. The other programs are: West Chester (five), Gannon (three), Bloomsburg (three), Lock Haven (three), Cal (two), Slippery Rock (two), Kutztown (one) and Millersville (one).
