ERIE, Pa. (Feb. 7) – In a matchup between teams tied for first place in the league standings, the California (PA) men's basketball team suffered a 115-87 loss at No. 6 Gannon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (15-6, 12-2) faced the Golden Knights at the Highmark Events Center for the first time since January 2023.
• Junior
Dalman Alexander scored a season-high 18 points while shooting seven-of-nine from the floor.
• He also tallied nine rebounds (five offensive), three assists and two blocks while playing 24 minutes.
• Sophomore
Keondre DeShields added 15 points and three rebounds off the bench, while redshirt junior
Bryson Lucas posted 14 points and three assists.
• Junior
Joshua Ray registered 10 rebounds and three blocks versus the Golden Knights.
• Gannon posted a 16-2 run over a three-minute span midway through the first half to take a 28-12 lead at the 10:34-mark.
• The Golden Knights scored the final 10 points of the half to build a 56-33 lead behind six three-pointers and a plus-14 rebounding advantage.
• Gannon held a 17-point lead in the second half before mounting a 20-6 rally to stretch the lead to 86-55 with 10:44 remaining.
• The Golden Knights eventually led by as many as 37 points, 102-65, at the 6:27-mark.
• Cal shot at a 54.1 clip (33-of-61) from the floor while struggling with a season-high 23 turnovers.
• Gannon made 13 three-pointers in the contest and collected 20 offensive rebounds.
