EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 21) – The California (PA) men's basketball team was unable to overcome a 20-point first-half deficit on Saturday afternoon and suffered an 85-77 loss at Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (18-7, 15-3) have lost back-to-back road games in the series with the Fighting Scots while winning 10 of the last 12 overall meetings.
• Sophomore
Jordyn Buchanan scored a game-high 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including five-of-seven from long range.
• He also added seven rebounds while playing 39 minutes.
• Junior
Dalman Alexander finished with 18 points and four rebounds and senior
Brayden Reynolds collected 16 points, four rebounds and five assists.
• Edinboro seized control in the first half by mounting a 23-6 run over nearly 10 minutes.
• The Fighting Scots took a 42-25 halftime lead after holding the Vulcans to just eight field goals in the opening half.
• Cal opened the second half on a 15-5 rally to cut the deficit to 47-40 at the 15:35-mark.
• The Fighting Scots pushed the lead back to 13 points, 54-41, before the Vulcans responded with a 19-6 run to tie the score at 60-60 with 7:54 left to play.
• Cal later took a 72-69 lead with 3:20 remaining before held without a field goal for the remainder of the game, as Edinboro closed on a 16-5 run.
• The Vulcans finished the game shooting 48.1 percent (25-of-52) from the floor and 62.9 percent (22-of-35) from the free-throw line.
• Both teams registered 35 rebounds in the contest while Edinboro committed just five turnovers.

• Cal closes out the regular season next week with a pair of home games, beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 25, against IUP at 7:30 p.m.
• The Crimson Hawks and Vulcans are tied for second place in the PSAC West standings.
• The top-two teams in the division receive a first-round bye and will host a quarterfinal contest in next month's PSAC Tournament.
