Women's Basketball downed by Seton Hill

All five starters score in double-digits; Williams records third double-double this season

CALIFORNIA (Jan. 7) – Despite tying its season high in points, the California (PA) women's basketball team dropped a 90-83 contest against Seton Hill in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Wednesday evening.

NOTES
• The Vulcans (8-9, 4-3) suffered their first home loss in the series with the Griffins since 2016.
• Seniors Kennedy Bankett and Alicia Young tied for the team lead with 18 points on Wednesday.
• Bankett added six rebounds and four steals, while Young collected seven rebounds.
• Junior Kimaya Williams recorded her third double-double of the year and also tallied five assists and two steals.
• Sophomore Hope Hawkins finished with 13 points and six rebounds.
• The teams combined for eight lead changes in the first quarter with the Vulcans holding a 19-16 advantage.
• Cal led by as many as six points, 43-37, in the second quarter before taking a 43-41 lead at the break.
• The Griffins claimed a 53-52 lead in the third quarter before the Vulcans scored eight-consecutive points to reclaim the lead by a 60-53 margin at the 5:05-mark.
• Seton Hill then mounted a 17-1 run over six minutes to build a 70-61 lead with 8:30 left in the fourth quarter.
• The Vulcans countered with an 18-8 rally to build a 79-78 lead with 3:55 remaining before the Griffins closed the game on a decisive 12-4 run.
• Cal finished the game shooting 39.4 percent (26-of-66) from the floor and converted a season-high 27 free-throw attempts (84.4 percent, 27-of-32).
• The Vulcans held a 40-36 rebounding advantage behind 17 offensive rebounds
• Seton Hill senior Helene Cowan scored a career-high 31 points in the victory.

• The Vulcans return to action when it hosts two-time, defending-NCAA regional champion No. 5 Gannon in PSAC West play at the Convocation Center with tip-off at 1 p.m.
