Vulcans close strong to top Seton Hill

California extends winning streak to nine games; Arnett registers second double-double this year

CALIFORNIA (Jan. 7) – The Vulcans mounted a 20-7 run over the final six-plus minutes on Wednesday night to open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play with an 87-78 victory against Seton Hill at the Convocation Center.

NOTES
• California (10-4, 7-0) has won the last 14 games in the series with Seton Hill dating back to 2019.
• Redshirt junior Bryson Lucas led the team with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting and added nine rebounds.
• The trio of redshirt sophomore Antoine Arnett, sophomore Jordyn Buchanan and senior Brayden Reynolds each finished with 19 points in the victory.
• Arnett recorded a double-double, as he led the team the with 10 rebounds (five offensive), along with three assists.
• Reynolds collected six assists and four steals, while Buchanan finished with eight rebounds and two steals.
• The Vulcans held a 17-10 lead at the 10:46-mark before the Griffins mounted a 23-7 run, including 12-unasnwered points, to claim a 38-28 lead with 2:20 remaining before the break.
• Seton Hill held a 40-33 lead at halftime behind six three-pointers, including five by freshman Rashaad Williams.
• Cal tied the score at 43-43 with 17:46 left to play before taking its first lead of the second half, 58-57, at the 10:33-mark.
• The Griffins reclaimed the lead at 64-58 with 9:22 remaining and held a 71-67 lead before the Vulcans responded with the game-changing run.
• Buchanan and Reynolds combined for 14 points during the decisive 20-7 rally over the final 6:10 of the game.
• Cal shot over 65 percent in the second half and finished the game with a .525 field-goal percentage (32-of-61).
• The Vulcans also held a 45-41 rebounding advantage and scored 50 points in the paint.
• Williams finished with a game-high 36 points behind 8-of-12 from beyond the arc.

• Cal closes its four-game homestand on Saturday, Jan. 10, when it faces two-time, defending-PSAC Champion and No. 9 Gannon at 3 p.m.
• The Vulcans enter the weekend on a nine-game winning streak, while the Golden Knights have won 10-consecutive games.
