Loreena Manser reached the NCAA provisional standard and broke the nearly decade-old school record in the long jump over the weekend while competing at the Mid-Major Invitational hosted by Youngstown State.
NCAA STANDARDS
• Manser reached the NCAA standard in the long jump for the first time this season.
• She previously reached NCAA qualifying marks in both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash this winter, also while competing at YSU.
• Senior
Alice Etienne improved her NCAA qualifying mark in the triple jump while competing in Ohio this weekend.
RECORD
• Manser recorded a distance of 5.74 meters (18-10.0 feet) in the long jump on her sixth and final attempt.
• She eclipsed the previous school mark of 5.64 meters (18-6.0 feet) set by Kaila Cannon during the 2017 season, also at YSU.
• Manser sits third on the league's performance list this winter in the long jump.
PSAC STANDARDS
• Manser also reached the qualifying mark for the PSAC Championships in the 60 and 200 meters.
• She finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.92 second and placed fifth in the finals of the 60 meters with a time of 7.63 seconds.
• Etienne placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.88 meters (38-11.75 feet), the top mark in the PSAC this year.
• Sophomore
Brianna Lee set a season-best height of 1.66 meters (5-5.25 feet) to finish second in the seeded portion of the high jump.
• Junior
Rosalyn Perozzi established a personal record in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:05.54.
• Classmate
Gabriella Fralin posted a time of 2:22.65 in the 800-meter run to qualify for the conference championships.
• Freshman
Amanda Mercurius also reached the PSAC qualifying standard in the 200 meters with a time of 25.93 seconds.
VICTORY
• The 4x400-meter relay of senior
Kirsten Gross, Mercurius, Manser and junior
Rebekah Priano won the event by nearly four seconds with a time of 3:57.38.
NEXT
• The Vulcans return to Ohio next weekend to compete at the Doug Raymond Invitational hosted by Kent State on Feb. 6-7.
