CALIFORNIA (Jan. 31) – Junior
Kennedy Bankett scored a season-high 34 points on Saturday afternoon, as the California (PA) women's basketball team posted an 82-58 victory against Pitt-Johnstown in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action at the Convocation Center.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (10-13, 6-7) snapped a three-game-losing streak with the victory and closed the opening round of divisional play in sixth place in the PSAC West standings.
• Bankett finished with 34 points (20 second half) on 14-of-19 shooting and six-of-seven from the free-throw line.
• The 34 points rank as the most since Dejah Terrell scored 36 points at Seton Hill in February 2024.
• Bankett also added three steals while playing 34 minutes versus the Mountain Cats.
• Junior
Kimaya Williams paced the team with nine assists and posted 12 points, six rebounds (three offensive) and four steals in the win.
• Sophomore
Hope Hawkins tallied 10 points, nine rebounds (four offensive), three assists, three blocks and three steals, while classmate
Trinity Balog collected 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals.
• Cal held a 19-16 lead at the end of the first quarter with the teams combining for two ties and six lead changes.
• The Vulcans scored 10-consecutive points in the latter half of the second quarter while holding the Mountain Cats without a field for more than five minutes to take a 37-26 lead at the break.
• Cal mounted a 10-2 run over two-plus minutes in the third quarter and carried a 60-38 lead at end of the quarter.
• The Vulcans stretched the lead to as many as 26 points, 78-52, with 2:19 left to play.
• Cal finished with its second-best field-goal percentage of the year with a 56.6 clip (35-of-62).
• The Vulcans held a 42-30 rebounding advantage, including 24 offensive rebounds, and set a season high with 20 steals.

• Cal is idle for a week before traveling to Erie, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Feb. 7, to face nationally-ranked Gannon at 1 p.m.
• The Golden Knights are currently tied for first place in the PSAC West standings.
