California claims victory over Kutztown

Vulcans set season highs in three-pointers, assists; Cal extends winning streak to eight games

CALIFORNIA (Jan. 3) – The California (PA) men's basketball team scored over 90 points for the fourth time in its last five games in a 91-68 win against Kutztown at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action on Saturday afternoon.

NOTES
• The Vulcans (9-4, 6-0) extended their winning streak to eight games while improving to 5-1 this year at home.
• Sophomore Jordyn Buchanan led the team in scoring with 22 points while tying his career high with six three-pointers.
• He also tallied five rebounds and two steals versus the Golden Bears.
• Redshirt junior Bryson Lucas nearly registered a triple-double with nine points, nine rebounds and nine assists in 35 minutes.
• Junior Dalman Alexander finished with nine points, five rebounds and four blocks, while classmate Joshua Ray posted 13 points, three rebounds and two assists.
• Senior Brayden Reynolds totaled eight points and 11 assists and sophomore Keondre DeShields collected 12 points, four rebounds and two steals.
• Midway through the first half, the Vulcans mounted a 24-6 run to claim a 42-27 lead with 2:28 remaining before the break.
• Cal later took a 48-35 lead at halftime after shooting over 51 percent (17-of-33) from the floor.
• The Vulcans expanded the lead to 72-50 at the 10:05-mark behind a 13-3 run that featured a trio of three-pointers.
• Cal stretched the lead to as many as 25 points twice over the final five-plus minutes of the contest.
• The Vulcans finished the game with a .457 field-goal percentage (32-of-70) while setting season highs of 10 three-pointers and 33 three-point attempts (30.3 percent).
• Cal held a 44-36 rebounding advantage in the victory and established a season-high 25 assists.

NEXT
• The Vulcans continue their homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 7, when they open PSAC West play by facing Seton Hill at 7:30 p.m.
• Cal and Seton Hill are two of three teams in the 17-member league to enter divisional action with an undefeated conference mark.
