Women's Basketball suffers loss to Edinboro

Bankett leads team in scoring for fourth-straight game; Williams collects double-digit rebounds

CALIFORNIA (Jan. 17) – The Vulcans struggled from the field and with turnovers in a 69-45 loss to Edinboro on Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.

NOTES
• California (9-11, 5-5) has lost five of the last seven meeting in the series with Edinboro.
• Junior Kennedy Bankett led the team in scoring for the fourth-straight game, as she finished with 15 points.
• Senior Alicia Young posted 13 points, two blocks and two steals, while sophomore Hope Hawkins added 12 points and six rebounds.
• Junior Kimaya Williams led the team with 10 rebounds to mark her eighth game this season with double-digit rebounds.
• Edinboro held a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter before limiting Cal to just six points in the second quarter.
• The Fighting Scots posted a 38-17 lead at halftime after holding the Vulcans to 7-of-22 shooting (31.8 percent).
• Cal limited Edinboro to only eight points in the third quarter while trailing by a 46-31 margin.
• The Fighting Scots held a 20-point lead for the final six-plus minutes of the game, leading by as many as 26 points, 69-43, in the final minute.
• Cal finished the game shooting 35.3 percent (18-of-51) from the floor and was held under 50 points for the third time this year.
• The Fighting Scots finished with a 36-27 rebounding advantage and forced the Vulcans into 24 turnovers.
