CALIFORNIA (Jan. 17) – The California (PA) men's basketball team made the go-ahead basket with 30 seconds remaining and then converted four free-throws to seal an 82-77 victory against Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (12-5, 9-1) have won the last six home games in the series with the Fighting Scots.
• Redshirt junior
Bryson Lucas recorded his fifth double-double of the year after tallying 23 points and 14 rebounds (four offensive).
• He shot 9-of-13 from the floor and also added three assists, two steals and one block in the win.
• Redshirt sophomore
Antoine Arnett posted his fourth 20-point game of the season, finishing with 21 points, four rebounds and five assists.
• Junior
Dalman Alexander collected with 12 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore
Jordyn Buchanan recorded 11 points.
• Cal held a five-point lead before Edinboro mounted a 22-4 run over six minutes to claim a 33-20 lead with 6:10 left in the first half.
• The Vulcans later scored nine-straight points before trailing by a 41-38 margin at the break.
• Edinboro built its lead to as many as nine points, 52-43, at the 15:39-mark of the second half.
• The Vulcans eventually tied the score with 6:48 left to play and later held a 76-72 lead under two minutes remaining.
• Edinboro made a second-chance three-pointer with 44 seconds left to take a 77-76 lead before Arnett countered with a layup on the next possession.
• Alexander secured a pivotal offensive rebound on a missed free-throw with 30 seconds before Cal made all free-throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
• The Vulcans finished the game shooting 46.9 percent (30-of-64) while going only 3-of-14 (21.4 percent) from beyond the arc.
• Cal held a slight 41-40 rebounding advantage and committed just six turnovers.
