NORTH CANTON, Ohio (Sept. 5) – The Vulcans opened the year with a 3-1 victory (19-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21) against Saginaw Valley State on Friday afternoon at the Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Walsh (OH).
NOTES
• The California (PA) volleyball team begins the campaign this weekend with a trio of matches in Ohio.
• Freshman
Olivia Weiseman registered a kill/dig double-double in her college debut with a team-leading 17 kills on a .359 hitting percentage and 10 digs.
• Junior
Sarah Stephenson collected 10 kills while hitting at a .292 clip and senior
Elisa Rugiero added seven kills on a .294 hitting percentage.
• Senior
Adrianna Favata and sophomore
Morgan Johnson directed the offense with 19 and 13 assists, respectively.

Caroline Mercer paced the defense with 19 digs and junior
Kay Lindenfelser added 10 digs on Friday.
• The Vulcans were credited with a .244 hitting percentage in the match after totaling just eight attacking errors over the opening three sets.
