CALIFORNIA (Sept. 4) — The California (PA) women's soccer team was narrowly defeated 1-0 by Lock Haven on Thursday afternoon at the Phillipsburg Complex in the season-opener for both teams.
The Vulcans open the season with a record of 0-1-0 following the loss. The Bald Eagles started strong with a 1-0-0 record after securing the victory.
1ST HALF
- California recorded four shots, with two requiring saves by the Bald Eagles' goalkeeper, Megan Miller. This solid defense helped Lock Haven maintain their clean sheet in this season-opener.
- Lock Haven's Gianna Gamble and Maci Shaffer each hit the goal frame early in the half with their respective shots.

Autumn Bishop made two saves for California in her college debut to keep the game scoreless at the end of the first half.
2ND HALF
- California recorded three shots in the half, with one shot on target saved by Miller.
- Julia Tavares scored the lone goal of the match in the 69th minute, assisted by Shaffer. Her goal was the decisive moment in the season-opener.
- The Bald Eagles had three corner kicks in the half, compared to two by California.
