CALIFORNIA (Sept. 4) – The Vulcans opened the year with a narrow 1-0 loss against Lock Haven on Thursday afternoon in non-conference play at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.

NOTES
• California (0-1) was facing Lock Haven in its season-opener for the fifth-consecutive campaign.
• The Bald Eagles looked to claim an early advantage on Thursday, as they placed shots off both the crossbar and post within a minute of each other.
• Cal and Lock Haven entered the break scoreless after the teams combined for nine shots.
• The Bald Eagles scored the lone goal of the contest at the 68:45-mark when Julia Tavares placed a shot in the top left corner of the net.
• Freshman Autumn Bishop earned the start in her collegiate debut and finished with three saves while playing all 90 minutes.
• The Vulcans posted an 8-6 shot advantage, while the Bald Eagles held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
