CALIFORNIA (April 16) – The California (PA) softball team earned a pair of walk-off victories while sweeping a doubleheader against Pitt-Johnstown at Lilley Field in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Tuesday afternoon, registering a 3-2 victory in Game 1 and a 6-5 win in Game 2.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (11-27, 8-10) hold a three-game lead in the win column for fifth place in the divisional standings with five doubleheaders left in the regular season.
• Cal has posted a walk-off victory three times in its last four games.
• The Vulcans earned a walk-off victory in both games of a doubleheader for the first time since April 13, 2018 (at Mercyhurst).

Taylor Babcock (6-6) earned both wins in the twinbill and tallied a combined nine strikeouts over 10.0 innings.
GAME 1
• UPJ took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh before senior center fielder
Brianna Sersevic delivered a two-run, walk-off double with two outs in the bottom of the inning.
• Babcock posted the complete-game victory after allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits with zero walks and a career-high eight strikeouts over 7.0 innings (91 pitches).
• Cal claimed a 1-0 lead in the second inning with an RBI single by junior shortstop
Jenna Hollerich.
• The Mountain Cats tied the score on a solo homer in the fourth after Babcock retired the initial 11 batters of the game.
• Junior catcher
Bailee Bertani started the rally in the bottom of the seventh by reaching base on a pop-up that landed between infielders and advanced to second on the play.
• Junior right fielder
Mikayla Linkous followed with a walk and both runners advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch.
• Following a strikeout for the second out of the inning, Sersevic lined the game-winning double down the left-field line on a 3-2 count.
GAME 2
• The Mountain Cats held a 5-2 lead after scoring twice in the top of the seventh inning.
• Junior third baseman
Lakyn Blackburn reached on a double and later scored on a two-out RBI single by Hollerich.
• The next batter reached on a hit by pitch and the Vulcans featured a pair of pinch-runners with both advancing into scoring position on a wild pitch.
• Bertani delivered a game-tying single to left field with two outs and then moved to second on another wild pitch.
• Linkous followed with a walk-off RBI single up the middle on a 3-2 count that allowed Bertani to score from second.
• Babcok allowed three runs (one earned) in 3.0 innings of relief (35 pitches) after freshman
Makenna Curran matched a season high with 4.0 innings (66 pitches).
• Linkous tallied two hits, one RBI, one run scored and one walk in the victory.
• Freshman designated player
Amarah McCutcheon finished with two hits and senior left fielder
Carlena Fiorilli registered a two-run double with two outs in the fourth.
NEXT
• The Vulcans return to action on Saturday, April 19, when they host Gannon for a twinbill at Lilley Field.
