Tennis splits pair of road matches

Mungo records three victories over two matches; All nine players featured in lineups on Sunday

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (April 13) – The Vulcans split a pair of road dual matches on Sunday, beginning with a 5-2 loss at East Stroudsburg before earning a 6-1 win at Lock Haven in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.

NOTES
• The California (PA) tennis team (12-4, 2-0) played multiple matches in a day for the third time this season.
• All nine players on the roster appeared in at least one match on Sunday.

VS EAST STROUDSBURG
• The Warriors claimed the doubles point after winning two matches in the session.
• Freshmen Izabelle Heacox and Anika Hedrich posted a 7-5 victory at the third position.
• Junior Diletta Maria Mungo collected a 6-4, 3-6, 11-9 win at third singles on Sunday morning at ESU.

VS LOCK HAVEN
• The Vulcans swept doubles play for the second time in three matches.
• Juniors Teddi Isherwood and Leandra Guldimann registered their team-leading 14th doubles win this year by claiming a 6-0 victory at the first slot.
• Mungo and freshman Garance Laforet posted a 6-0 win at second doubles, while Heacox and Hedrich registered a 6-0 victory at the third position.
• In singles, Mungo moved to the first slot and finished with a 6-1, 6-1 win for her team-best 15th victory of the season.
• Laforet claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at the second position and sophomore Lilli Schreiber earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at third singles.
• Heacox climbed to the fourth slot to record a 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 win, while sophomore Peyton Reese posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fifth position in her spring singles debut.
• Freshman Gianna Bloom made her college singles debut at sixth position against the Bald Eagles.

NEXT
• Cal continues PSAC West play tomorrow, Monday, April 14, when it travels face four-time, defending-league champion IUP at 3 pm.
