Women's Basketball rallies to win at IUP

I. Williams registers second 20-point game versus Crimson Hawks; Harris collects 12 offensive rebounds

INDIANA, Pa. (Feb. 26) – In a meeting of regionally-ranked teams, the Vulcans overcame first-quarter shooting struggles to claim a 69-62 win at IUP in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Wednesday evening.

NOTES
• California (16-10, 12-7) extended its winning streak to five games.
• The Vulcans swept the regular-season series with the Crimson Hawks for the first time since the 2021-22 campaign.
• Senior Iyahnna Williams scored a game-high 21 points on 7-of-18 shooting, including three-of-four from long range.
• She has registered four 20-point games this season, including twice against IUP.
• Classmate Allycia Harris collected her third double-double in the last five games, finishing with 11 points and 15 rebounds (12 offensive).
• Sophomore Kimaya Williams tallied seven points, five rebounds, three assists and five steals while playing 33 minutes off the bench.
• Senior Talia Gilliard scored 11 points in the victory on Wednesday.
• The Crimson Hawks posted 11-unasnwered points midway through the first quarter to build a 17-5 lead at the 1:20-mark.
• Cal was held scoreless for over five minutes before trailing 17-10 at the end of the quarter.
• The Vulcans mounted a 13-6 run to cut the deficit to 27-25 with 2:04 left before halftime.
• IUP held a 31-25 lead at the break after Cal shot just 22.9 percent (8-of-35) from the floor in the first half.
• The Crimson Hawks stretched the lead to double-digits three times in the third quarter before the Vulcans countered with a 21-5 run to take a 50-44 lead with 52 seconds left.
• Cal maintained the lead throughout the entire fourth quarter behind a 13-4 rally over a five-minute span to seize a 63-52 advantage at the 3:48-mark.
• The Vulcans finished the game shooting at a 32.9 clip (23-of-70) from the floor and converted 8-of-20 (40.0 percent) from beyond the arc.
• Cal collected 23 offensive rebounds and forced 23 turnovers in the victory.
• The Crimson Hawks were held to just one three-pointer made on Wednesday (1-of-9; 11.1 percent).

NEXT
• The Vulcans close the regular season on Saturday, March 1, when they host Edinboro on Senior Day at the Convocation Center with tip-off at 1 p.m.
• Cal will also hold a 10-year anniversary recognition of the 2015 NCAA National Championship Team on Saturday.
• The Vulcans have secured the fifth seed in the PSAC Tournament and will travel to face IUP in the opening round on Monday, March 3.
• The top-three seeds in the PSAC West are still undetermined entering the final weekend of the regular season.
