CALIFORNIA (March 1) – The California (PA) women's basketball team battled foul trouble to the bulk of its starting lineup in the first half before dropping an 81-79 contest against Edinboro on Senior Day at the Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (16-11, 12-8) finish the regular season ranked fifth in the divisional standings.
• Cal was swept in the regular-season series by Edinboro for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign.
• Senior
Sierra Bermudez scored a season-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including five-of-nine from three-point territory.
• She has made five three-pointers in a game three times this year.
• Classmate
Talia Gilliard finished with 16 points behind three-of-seven from beyond the arc, plus added four rebounds, two assists and three steals.
• Fellow senior
Allycia Harris collected her fourth double-double in the last month, as she registered 16 points and 14 rebounds (seven offensive).

Iyahnna Williams finished with 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals on Saturday.

Alicia Young tallied six rebounds and three steals against the Fighting Scots.
• The Vulcans opened the game with an 11-4 lead with 6:18 left in the first quarter.
• Edinboro held Cal scoreless for the last three-plus minutes while scoring 12-unasnwered points to take a 24-17 lead at the at the end of the quarter.
• The Fighting Scots started the second quarter on a 10-2 run to extend the advantage to 15 points, 34-19, with 7:21 left before the break.
• Cal cut the deficit to seven points before Edinboro took a 44-33 lead at halftime behind 26 points in the paint and 14-of-14 from the free-throw line.
• The Vulcans worked the margin to single digits at the end of the third quarter, 61-54, behind a combined 13 points by Bermudez and Gilliard.
• Edinboro led by as many as 13 points, 67-54, early in the fourth quarter before Cal went on a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 69-64 with 5:22 left to play,
• The Vulcans trailed by a single possession in the final 30 seconds before the Fighting Scots sealed the win at the free-throw line.
• Cal finished the game shooting 41.2 percent (28-of-68) from the floor and 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the charity stripe.
• Edinboro, which didn't convert a three-point field goal (zero-for-five), made 23-of-28 attempts (82.1 percent) from the free-throw line.
