CALIFORNIA (Feb. 1) – The Vulcans raced out to a 25-point lead midway through the first half on Saturday afternoon before claiming a 106-84 victory over league-leading Gannon at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.

• California (12-10, 7-7) has won the last four home meetings in the series against Gannon.
• The Vulcans are tied for third in the PSAC West standings with six games left in the regular season.
• Gannon (16-6, 11-3) has lost three-consecutive games after mounting a 15-game winning streak earlier this year.
• Junior
Donald Whitehead, Jr. scored a career-high 30 points on 9-of-18 shooting, including four-of-nine from long range, and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line.
• He also collected eight assists and four rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.
• Freshman
Keondre DeShields tallied 23 points, six rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals while tying his season high of 31 minutes off the bench.
• Senior
Kadyn Hannah posted 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win.
• Redshirt junior
Cam Polak finished with 20 points, four rebounds and two assists, while freshman
Jordyn Buchanan registered 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
• Cal opened the game on a 19-5 run at the 14:46-mark after making seven of its initial nine shot attempts.
• The Vulcans later posted a 15-1 rally over four minutes to build a 38-13 lead with 9:18 left before halftime.
• Gannon closed the half on a 13-6 run to cut the deficit to 52-39 at the break.
• The Golden Knights trimmed the difference to 11 points three times in the opening four minutes of the second half.
• Cal responded with a 16-3 rally over four minutes behind a trio of three-pointers to increase the lead to a 74-50 margin with 11:46 remaining.
• The Vulcans maintained a 20-point for virtually the remainder of the contest.
• Cal eclipsed the century mark for the first time in two-plus months and the third time this season.
• The Vulcans shot 52.4 percent (33-of-63) from the floor and finished with season highs of 29 free-throws made and 38 free-throw attempts (76.3 percent).
• Cal scored 21 points off turnovers and tallied 19 second-chance points against Gannon.
