CALIFORNIA (Feb. 5) – The California (PA) men's basketball team completed a sweep of its three-game homestand by earning a 74-53 win over Seton Hill in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action at the Convocation Center on Wednesday night.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (13-10, 8-7) have won six of their last eight games behind a pair of three-game winning streaks.
• Cal climbed into a tie for second place in the PSAC West standings with five games left in the regular season.
• Seton Hill (13-10, 6-9) sits in a tie for seventh in the divisional standings after entering play having won three of its last four games.
• Freshman
Jordyn Buchanan recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and a season-high 15 rebounds.
• Junior
Donald Whitehead, Jr. led the team with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including three-of-six from long range.
• He also tallied four assists and two steals in the victory.
• Sophomore
Dalman Alexander finished with 12 points and nine rebounds on Wednesday.
• Redshirt junior
Cam Polak collected 12 points and a career-high eight assists against the Griffins.
• Senior
Kadyn Hannah posted 10 points and six rebounds, as all five starters scored in double-digits.
• Seton Hill scored the opening two baskets of the game before Cal responded with 17-unanswered points to take a 17-4 lead at the 13:45-mark of the first half.
• The Griffins cut the deficit to eight points midway through the half before the Vulcans took a 40-27 lead into the break.
• Cal scored 12-straight points in just over two minutes early in the second half to build a 54-31 advantage with 14:28 left to play.
• The Vulcans were held scoreless for nearly four minutes midway through the half yet the Griffins were only able to trim the deficit to 56-42 at the 9:31-mark.
• Cal worked its lead back to over 20 points during the next five minutes to secure its 12th-straight victory in the series with Seton Hill.
• The Vulcans finished the game shooting 49.1 percent (28-of-57) from the floor and converted 11-of-12 attempts (91.7 percent) from the free-throw line.
• Cal held a 40-28 rebounding advantage while collecting just four offensive rebounds.
• The Vulcans scored 18 points off turnovers in the win, including 15 in the second half.
