Women's Basketball posts victory at Mansfield

Balog registers second 20-point game in a week; Vulcans record 45 rebounds behind 20 offensive

MANSFIELD, Pa. (Dec. 21) – The Vulcans set season highs in points and rebounds on Sunday afternoon while posting an 83-62 win at Mansfield in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover play.

NOTES
• California (7-7, 3-1) was playing at Mansfield for just the second time since December 2016.
• Sophomore Trinity Balog scored 21 points on four-of-eight from the floor and 12-of-12 from the free-throw line.
• She converted double-digit free-throws for the second time this year and is the first player since Miki Glenn in January 2017 to make every free throw while attempting at least 12.
• Balog also added six assists while playing 33 minutes on Saturday.
• Senior Kennedy Bankett tallied 19 points, seven rebounds (three offensive), three assists and two steals.
• Sophomore Hope Hawkins registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds (four offensive), plus four steals.
• Junior Kimaya Williams collected seven points, 11 rebounds (five offensive), four assists and two steals, while senior Alicia Young posted 14 points and two blocks.
• The Vulcans scored the opening eight points of the game and held a 21-12 lead at the end of the first quarter after collecting nine offensive rebounds.
• Cal led by double-digits for the majority of the second quarter and entered halftime with a 40-25 advantage.
• The Vulcans built their lead to as many as 18 points in the third quarter before the Mountaineers closed the quarter on a 15-6 run to trim the deficit to a 59-50 margin.
• Mansfield again trailed by just nine points midway through the fourth quarter before Cal seized control by scoring 13-consecutive points.
• The Vulcans held the Mountaineers without a field goal over the final 4:55 of the contest.
• Cal shot 38.9 percent (28-of-72) from the floor and converted a season-high 24 free-throws on 32 attempts (75.0 percent).
• The Vulcans finished with a 45-37 rebounding advantage behind 20 offensive rebounds and scored 21 fastbreak points.

• Cal is idle for nearly two weeks for the holidays before resuming PSAC Crossover action against East Stroudsburg at the Convocation Center on Jan. 2 at 3 p.m.
