LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Dec. 20) – The California (PA) women's basketball team suffered a 77-60 loss at Lock Haven, the preseason favorites in the Eastern Division, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action on Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (6-7, 2-1) were playing for the fourth time in a week and entered the contest on a three-game winning streak.
• Lock Haven has won the last five meetings in the series with Cal, including three-straight at home.
• Senior
Alicia Young led the team in scoring for the fifth time this year, finishing with 19 points on 8-of-20 attempts.
• Sophomore
Trinity Balog added 15 points on 5-of-17 shooting, while senior
Kennedy Bankett collected 11 points, three assists and two steals.
• Junior
Kimaya Williams totaled six points, 11 rebounds (seven offensive), six assists and four steals.
• The Bald Eagles scored nine-straight points early in the first quarter and later closed the quarter on a 10-2 run to seize an early 25-10 lead.
• Cal registered the opening eight points of the second quarter to cut the deficit to seven points before Lock Haven took a 33-24 lead at halftime.
• The Bald Eagles tallied eight-consecutive points early in the third quarter and built a 49-32 lead entering the final 10 minutes.
• Cal trimmed the deficit to as few as 10 points, 59-49, with 4:06 left to play on Saturday.
• The Vulcans finished the game shooting 35.8 percent (24-of-67) from the floor.
• The teams combined to shoot just 3-for-25 (12.0 percent) from long range, while the Bald Eagles converted 24-of-25 (96.0 percent) from the free-throw line.
• Lock Haven held a 39-31 rebounding advantage and scored 18 second-chance points.
