Olivia Weiseman recorded a rare triple-double on Friday evening, as the Vulcans posted a 3-1 victory (25-11, 25-15, 20-25, 25-18) against Edinboro at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action
NOTES
• California (18-9, 5-6) sits in a three-way tie for fourth place in the divisional standings with three matches remaining in the regular season.
• Weisman registered the program's first triple double since Kelly Fromknecht accomplished the feat five times during the 2012 season.
• She finished with 14 kills, 14 assists and 11 digs, while also adding four blocks, against the Fighting Scots.
• Senior
Elisa Rugiero tallied 11 kills, eight digs and three blocks, while junior
Sarah Stephenson collected nine kills on a .292 hitting percentage.
• Sophomore
Kasie Meek posted eight kills and 13 digs in the victory.
• Seniors
Adrianna Favata and
Caroline Mercer both registered assist/dig double-doubles with Favata totaling with 16 assists and 21 digs, while Mercer finished with 26 digs and 12 assists.
• Sophomore
Lindsey Scammell added seven blocks in the win.
• In the opening set, Cal raced out to a 13-2 lead and cruised to a 25-11 victory.
• The Vulcans led wire-to-wire in the second set after scoring the initial six points and later mounted a 10-2 run to post a 25-15 win.
• Cal committed seven attack errors in the third set, as Edinboro closed play with a 12-5 rally to take a 25-20 victory.
• The Vulcans responded in the fourth set, mounting an 11-3 run midway through the set and made only one attack error to seal the match with a 25-18 victory.
NEXT
• The Vulcans return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 8, when they host Gannon at 1 p.m.
• The Golden Knights, which are undefeated in league play this fall, have already secured the top seed from the PSAC West in the upcoming PSAC Tournament.
