Women's Basketball downed at West Chester

Vulcans held to single digits in three quarters; California plays third game in five days

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Nov. 23) – In their final action of the month, the Vulcans were held to their lowest shooting percentage since the 2022 NCAA Tournament in a 64-36 loss at West Chester in non-conference play on Sunday afternoon.

NOTES
• California (3-5) was playing its third game in five days on Sunday.
• Senior Kennedy Bankett was the lone player in double-digits with 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting.
• She also added six rebounds (three offensive) and five steals while playing 33 minutes.
• Senior Alicia Young collected eight points, four rebounds and five steals against the Golden Rams.
• Junior Kimaya Williams led the team with nine rebounds (five offensive), while sophomore Hope Hawkins tallied seven rebounds (six offensive).
• West Chester built a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter after limiting Cal to only two field goals.
• In the second quarter, the Golden Rams led by as many 24 points before taking a 37-16 lead into halftime.
• West Chester mounted a 15-2 run over the final 5:37 of play on Sunday, as Cal scored just seven points in the fourth quarter.
• The Vulcans game shooting only 20.9 percent (14-of-67) from the floor, including 2-of-14 (14.3 percent) from long range.
• West Chester held a 45-36 rebounding advantage despite Cal collecting 19 offensive rebounds.

NEXT
• The Vulcans are idle for the remainder of the month before returning to action when they host Ashland (OH) on Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
• The Vulcans and Eagles last met during the 2009-10 campaign.
• Ashland won the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2013, 2017 and 2023, plus finished as the national runner-up in 2012 and 2018.
