Strom reaches milestone at Wilmington

Strom becomes seventh coach in PSAC history with 300 victories; Williams nearly records triple-double

WILMINGTON, Del. (Nov. 22) – Head coach Jess Strom reached the 300-win mark on Saturday afternoon, as the California (PA) women's basketball team registered a 79-58 victory at Wilmington (DE) in non-conference action.

NOTES
• Strom, already the school's all-time wins leader, becomes the seventh coach in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) history to earn 300 career wins.
• She is one of three active coaches in the league to reach the milestone, joining Janet Malouf of Kutztown and Kristy Trn of Shippensburg.
• Strom holds a 300-103 career record over 15 years as a head coach and boasts the top winning percentage (.744) of any of the seven coaches with 300 victories in PSAC history.
• The Vulcans (3-4) were facing the Wildcats for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign.
• Senior transfer Kennedy Bankett led the team with 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting and eight-of-nine from the free-throw line.
• Fellow senior Alicia Young finished with 16 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three steals.
• Junior transfer Jalasia Hull added 14 points, seven rebounds (three offensive) two blocks and four steals on Saturday, while sophomore Trinity Balog scored 12 points.
• Junior Kimaya Williams collected nine rebounds (three offensive), eight assists, three blocks and seven steals while playing 33 minutes.
• The Vulcans held a 21-18 lead after the first quarter when the Wildcats tied the score five times.
• Cal began to seize control in the second quarter with a 19-7 run before taking a 42-33 advantage into the break.
• The Vulcans posted an 11-1 rally in the later minutes of the third quarter to build a 20-point lead before ending the quarter with a 66-44 advantage.
• Cal extended the lead to as many as 29 points, 78-49, as Wilmington was held without a field in the fourth quarter until the 1:44-mark.
• The Vulcans scored a season high in points while shooting 42.9 percent (27-of-63) from the floor and 22-of-27 (81.5 percent) from the free-throw line.
• Wilmington held a 42-40 rebounding advantage, while Cal forced 24 turnovers.

• The Vulcans continue their weekend road trip tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 23, when they face West Chester in non-conference play at 1 p.m.
