Vulcans narrowly fall to No. 11 Fairmont State

Hull scores 29 points off the bench; Teams combine for six lead changes in fourth quarter

CALIFORNIA (Nov. 19) – Facing the two-time, defending-Mountain East Conference (MEC) Champion, the Vulcans suffered a 75-71 loss to No. 11 Fairmont State on Wednesday evening in non-conference play at the Convocation Center.

NOTES
• California (2-3) has already faced four teams that appeared in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
• Junior transfer Jalasia Hull scored a game-high 29 points on 12-of-15 shooting.
• She added five rebounds while playing 36 minutes off the bench.
• Fellow junior Kimaya Williams posted 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists versus the Fighting Falcons.
• Senior transfer Kennedy Bankett finished with 13 points, four rebounds and two steals.
• Junior Nina Shaw tallied six points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals on Wednesday.
• The Fighting Falcons posted a 10-2 run midway through the first quarter to take a 16-5 lead at the 3:56-mark.
• Cal cut the deficit to 19-16 at the end of the quarter before tying the score at 26-26 with 7:00 left before halftime.
• The Fighting Falcons scored 10-straight points to take a 36-26 lead before the Vulcans again tied the score at the end of the quarter, 36-36.
• Cal built a 49-44 lead with 3:17 remaining in the third quarter before Fairmont State countered to reclaim the lead, 54-53, at the end of the quarter.
• The teams combined for six lead changes and six ties in the fourth quarter.
• The Vulcans held a 49-44 advantage with 3:17 left to play before the Fighting Falcons scored on five-straight possessions to take a 54-53 lead with 54 seconds remaining.
• Cal finished the game shooting a season-high 54.5 percent (30-of-55) from the floor.
• Both teams were credited with 32 rebounds with the Fighting Falcons collecting 13 offensive rebounds.

• The Vulcans return to action this weekend with a pair of road games, starting on Friday, Nov. 22 against Wilmington (DE) at 12 p.m.
