CALIFORNIA (Nov. 14) – In a meeting of regionally-ranked teams, the Vulcans suffered a 3-1 loss (25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 25-22) against IUP on Senior Day at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Friday evening.
NOTES
• California (19-10, 6-7) closed its seven-match homestand that began on Oct. 24.
• The Vulcans enter the final day of the regular season in a three-way tie for fourth place in the divisional standings and sit one match behind third place.
• IUP was positioned third in the latest NCAA Atlantic regional rankings, while Cal debuted in the rankings at ninth.

Olivia Weiseman led the team with 10 kills on 49 attacks and added 12 assists and nine digs against the Crimson Hawks.

Elisa Rugiero tallied nine kills, while sophomore
Lindsey Scammell posted five kills and eight blocks.

Adrianna Favata recorded an assist/dig double-double with 15 assists and 16 digs in the loss.

• In the first set, IUP won nine of 11 points midway through before closing with a 25-21 victory behind 21 kills.
• The Crimson Hawks claimed seven of eight points midway through the second set wile earning a 25-21 win, as the teams combined for 17 attack errors.
• Cal raced to a 12-6 lead in the third set and hit at a .263 clip to capture a 25-21 victory.
• The fourth set featured eight ties, the last time at 20-20, before IUP won four of the next five points to seal the match with a 25-22 win.

• The Vulcans close out the regular season tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 15, at Pitt-Johnstown with play beginning at 1 p.m.
• Cal, UPJ and Clarion (which plays at top-seeded Gannon) enter the final day tied for fourth place in the PSAC West standings.
