Volleyball drops home match to Seton Hill

Scammell ties career high with 11 kills on .524 clip, Weiseman matches season high with 21 digs

CALIFORNIA (Oct. 24) – The Vulcans opened the second round of divisional play with a 3-1 loss (25-22, 25-16, 13-25, 25-17) against Seton Hill on Friday evening at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.

NOTES
• California (15-8, 2-6) suffered its first home loss of the fall while also playing its first league match at the Convocation Center in two weeks.
• Sophomore Lindsey Scammell tied her career high with 11 kills and committed zero attack errors on 21 attempts for a .524 hitting percentage.
• Sophomore Olivia Weiseman tallied seven kills and junior Sarah Stephenson finished with six kills.
• Sophomore Morgan Johnson led the team with 17 assists, while senior Adrianna Favata registered an assist/dig double-double with 15 assists and 13 digs.
• Weiseman paced the defensive effort and tied her season high with 21 digs, marking her third 20-dig match of the year.
• Senior Caroline Mercer added 14 digs, while classmate Tayla Pascoe and junior Kay Lindenfelser finished with 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
• Freshman Ava Norfolk was credited with five blocks against the Griffins.
• Seton Hill led the entire first set and withstood a late five-point run by Cal to earn a 25-22 victory.
• In the second set, the Griffins scored six-unanswered points to build a 13-7 lead and later captured five-straight points to extend the advantage to 23-13 before closing the set the set, 25-16.
• Cal hit a .323 clip in the third set and committed just three attacking errors.
• The Vulcans won six-straight points to take an 18-10 lead that sparked a 13-3 run to claim a 25-13 victory.
• In the fourth set, Seton Hill won eight of nine points to build a 12-7 advantage and later captured eight of 10 points to extend the advantage to 23-14 before closing the match with a 25-17 margin.

• The Vulcans return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 28, when they host Walsh (Ohio) in non-conference play at 6 p.m.
