Malachi Herndon tallied goals within a span of just over 90 seconds late in the first half on Wednesday afternoon before the California (PA) men's soccer team suffered a 3-2 loss at Pitt-Johnstown to open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (2-4-1, 0-1) have dropped their last three road games after winning their season-opener on the road on Sept. 4.
• UPJ started the scoring in the 14th minute on a goal by Pau Cano, who later assisted on the goal at the 28:20-mark.
• The Vulcans trimmed the deficit in the 34th minute when Gretz converted a penalty kick, his sixth career goal.
• Cal then tied the score at the 34:58-mark when Herndon registered his first career goal with an assist from junior
Bellamy Cox-Sitkiewicz.
• The Mountains Cats posted the eventual game-winning goal in the 57th minute when Cano scored his sixth goal of the year.
• UPJ finished the game with a 15-13 shot advantage, while also tallying a 13-7 edge in corner kicks on Wednesday.

AJ Visco made a pair of saves in the contest against the Mountain Cats in the loss.
