Vulcans cruise against Penn State-Beaver

California scores most points since Nov. 2016, sets season highs in FGM, rebounds, assists and steals

CALIFORNIA (Jan. 20) – The Vulcans registered their highest point total in nearly a decade while cruising to a 108-52 victory against Penn State-Beaver at the Convocation Center in non-conference action on Monday afternoon.

NOTES
• California (10-8) scored its most points in a game since finishing with 114 points at West Virginia State in November 2016.
• Senior Sierra Bermudez led four players in double-digits with 19 points behind 5-of-15 from beyond the arc.
• She also added four assists and one steal while playing 17 minutes.
• Junior Alicia Young finished with 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting along with four rebounds and three steals in the victory.
• Freshman Mya Morgan set a season high with 15 points on six-of-eight from the floor, including three-of-four from long range.
• Senior Allycia Harris posted 14 points, eight rebounds (seven offensive), eight assists and six steals over 26 minutes on Monday.
• Sophomore Kimaya Williams totaled six points, eight rebounds (four offensive), six assists and three steals off the bench.
• Freshman Hope Hawkins collected nine points and four rebounds, while junior Nina Shaw finished with eight rebounds and four steals in the win.
• The Vulcans dressed 13 players on Monday and all 13 played at least nine minutes.
• Cal seized control midway through the first quarter with a 24-6 run while shooting 11-of-17 from the floor during the stretch.
• The Vulcans started the second quarter with a 13-3 rally and held a commanding 56-22 lead at halftime.
• Cal began the third quarter on a 23-6 run behind a trio of treys by Bermudez to stretch the lead to 79-28 at the 1:51-mark.
• Midway through the fourth quarter, the Vulcans posted a 17-4 rally with five different reserves scoring during that span to build a 101-40 lead with 3:14 left to play.
• Cal finished the game with a .500 field-goal percentage after setting season highs with 46 field-goals made and 92 field-goals attempts.
• The Vulcans also established season bests of 57 rebounds, 29 assists and 25 steals on Monday.
• The contest marked the first game against a Penn State branch campus in at least 15 years.
