GREENSBURG, Pa. (Jan. 11) – The Vulcans led by over 20 points midway through the second half before earning an 81-73 victory at Seton Hill in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• California (9-8, 4-5) has won three of its last four games following a seven-game losing streak.
• Redshirt junior
Cam Polak scored a game-high 25 points on 8-of-14 from the floor, including four-of-nine from long range.
• He also added eight rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals in the win.
• Junior
Donald Whitehead, Jr. posted 18 points and eight assists against the Griffins.
• Sophomore
Dalman Alexander finished with eight points, nine rebounds and two steals.
• Freshman
Keondre DeShields tallied nine points, seven rebounds and two assists off the bench, while classmate
Jordyn Buchanan registered seven points, six rebounds and four assists.
• The Vulcans mounted a 15-6 run midway through the first half to take a 31-16 lead with 5:31 left before the break.
• Cal held a 38-26 advantage at halftime after shooting over 50 percent from the floor, including 7-of-12 (58.3 percent) from beyond the arc.
• The Vulcans maintained a 64-42 lead at the 10:50-mark in the second half.
• The Griffins cut the deficit to single digits, 69-61, with 4:58 remaining and later trailed by just two possessions with 25 seconds left to play.
• Cal posted a .481 field-goal percentage (26-of-54) in the victory and tallied 23 assists.
• The Vulcans also made 18-of-21 attempts (85.7 percent) from the free-throw line after shooting just one free-throw in the first half.
