BROOKFIELD, Ill. (Dec. 20) – Five standouts from the California (PA) football team received All-America laurels from the Don Hansen Football Committee on Friday afternoon.
Senior offensive lineman
Jaheim Bassham and senior kicker
Anthony Beitko were tabbed First-Team All-Americans, while junior defensive back
Rashan Murray was chosen a Second-Team All-American. Additionally, senior quarterback
Davis Black and junior wide receiver
Eric Willis III were named All-America Honorable Mention.
Bassham garnered his fourth All-America honor of the year after previously being recognized by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Associated Press (AP) and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA). In his first year at center, he helped the Vulcans finish with nearly 5,000 yards of total offense behind over 1,900 rushing yards – their most in eight years. Bassham ranked second on the team with 37 career starts and served as a team captain this fall.
A 6-foot-0 senior, Beitko collected All-America recognition from Don Hansen for the third time in his career. He was a Second-Team All-American as a freshman and received Honorable Mention as a junior. Beitko converted 12-of-16 field goals and 39-of-40 PAT attempts for a team-leading 75 points this season. He finished his career with 306 points behind an .847 field-goal percentage (50-of-59), which ranks second-best among active kickers in NCAA Division II.
Murray received his second All-America designation this year after being named an AP Second-Team All-American. He ranked among the national leaders with 18 passes defended (14 pass break-ups) in his second year as a starter. Murray led the team with four interceptions and set a career high with 39 tackles (27 solo) in 2024.
A team captain, Black finished with the third-most yards of total offense in single-season school history after amassing 3,377 yards. He nearly became the sixth 3,000-yard passer in school history, closing the year with 2,948 passing yards and 21 touchdowns on a 63.3 completion percentage (231-of-365). Black also amassed 429 rushing yards and a team-leading 12 rushing touchdowns – the most by any Cal player since 2019.
Willis earned Honorable Mention from the organization for a consecutive year. He eclipsed the 1,000-yard milestone for the first time in his career with his total of 1,038 receiving yards ranking No. 10 in single-season school history. Willis also led the team with a career-high 68 receptions, including six touchdowns.
The Don Hansen All-America Teams carry out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away in 2010. Hansen started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
