Donald Whitehead, Jr. combined for nearly 50 points on Saturday night, as the No. 6 Vulcans posted an 89-69 win over Concord at the Convocation Center in non-conference play.
NOTES
• California (4-0) was making its home debut this season after posting a 14-2 mark at home last year.
• The Vulcans and Mountain Lions both earned at-large berths to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
• Whitehead set a career high with 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting while playing 38 minutes.
• He also added four assists and three rebounds in the victory.
• Palek posted his second double-double of the year after totaling 22 points and 14 rebounds.
• Redshirt junior
Cam Polak registered 19 points, five rebounds and four assists on Saturday.
• Sophomore
Antoine Arnett collected 10 points and three rebounds in his first career start.
• Cal held a 45-40 lead at halftime after the teams combined for seven lead changes.
• The Vulcans seized control of the game with a 25-10 run midway through the second half.
• Cal scored 42 points in the paint in the victory and converted 85.0 percent (17-of-20) from the free-throw line.
