Women's Basketball suffers loss to Boro, 57-51

Terrell collects eighth double-double of the year, Cal managed six field goals in second half

CALIFORNIA, Pa. (Jan. 31) - The California (PA) women's basketball team suffered a second-straight loss on Wednesday evening, dropping a 57-51 contest against Edinboro on Wednesday evening at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play. 

RECORDS/SERIES
• The Vulcans fall to 14-6 this season behind a 9-5 conference action.
• The Fighting Scots improve to 11-8 overall with a 9-5 record in league play.
• Cal has won four of the last six meetings in the series after Edinboro previously won seven-consecutive meetings.

STATS
• Redshirt senior Dejah Terrell recorded her eighth double-double of the season on Wednesday.
• She finished with 22 points (17 first half) and 10 rebounds while playing 34 minutes.
• Junior Allycia Harris tallied 11 points and four rebounds while playing 26 minutes against the Fighting Scots.
• Freshman Nina Shaw collected five steals and three assists while playing all 40 minutes.

GAME ACTION
• Edinboro posted a 7-2 run early in game to take a 7-5 lead with 7:07 left in the first quarter.
• The Fighting Scots later scored six-straight points to claim a 16-14 lead at the 1:01-mark.
• The Vulcans closed the quarter with five-consecutive points to take a 19-16 lead behind 10 points by Terrell.
• Cal rallied off 11-unanswered points over the majority of the second quarter to take a 30-19 lead with 1:03 left before the break.
• The Fighting Scots were held scoreless for nine minutes in the quarter to take a 30-21 lead at halftime.
• Edinboro was limited to just 1-of-13 from the field in the quarter and committed 18 turnovers.
• The Fighting Scots mounted a 12-3 run early in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 35-33 at the 4:18-mark.
• Cal later scored five of six points to stretch the lead to 42-36 with 1:59 left in the quarter.
• The Fighting Scots rallied off 10-straight points to claim a 48-44 lead with 6:11 remaining in the fourth quarter.
• The Vulcans answered with five-unanswered points to take a 49-48 lead at the 4:11-mark.
• Cal scored its final basket of the game with 2:43 left before Edinboro posted the final seven points of the game to earn the victory, 57-51.
• The Vulcans were held to a .321 field-goal percentage (17-of-53) after totaling just six field goals in the second half.
• Cal forced 24 turnovers in the contest, which featured five lead changes in the fourth quarter.
• Edinboro junior Hayley Sims – a 2023 All-PSAC First-Team selection – scored a game-high 25 points on 9-of-20 from the floor.

• The Vulcans begin the second round of PSAC West play on Saturday, Feb. 3, when they travel to face No. 2 Gannon in Erie, Pennsylvania, at 1 p.m.
