CALIFORNIA (Sept. 30) – The Vulcans clinched the doubles point and earned key wins in the top of the singles lineup to secure a 4-3 victory over Bloomsburg at Roadman Park in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
RECORDS/SERIES
• The California (PA) tennis team improves to 2-4 this fall in dual matches.
• The Huskies drop 1-2 overall after playing all three matches this weekend.
• The teams were meeting for the first time since the semifinals of the 2015 PSAC Tournament hosted by Bloomsburg.
MATCH NOTES
• The Vulcans secured the doubles point for the second time this year, both match victories.
• Cal tied the doubles session at the second slot with a 6-3 victory by sophomore
Leandra Guldimann and senior
Carmen Duran.
• The doubles point was decided at the first position when sophomore
Diletta Maria Mungo and junior
Maria Del Mar Ojeda posted a 6-3 win.
• The Huskies and Vulcans split the singles flight on Saturday with the match being decided at the second slot.
• Duran collected a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the fifth position and Ojeda earned a 6-3, 7-5 win at third singles.
• Guldimann clinched the match victory by rallying for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 victory at the second slot.
