BELLE VERNON, Pa. (Sept. 3) – The California (PA) women's golf team shot a 62-over 346 in the opening round while hosting the Vulcan Invitational at the Cedarbrook Golf Course on Sunday.
TEAM NOTES
• The Vulcans rank seventh in the team standings following the opening 18 holes.
• Cal is hosting the 10-team event at nearby Cedarbrook over Labor Day weekend with six PSAC schools featured in the field.
• Alvernia (Pa.), a NCAA Division III program, holds a 10-stroke lead in the standings with a 31-over 315 after the opening round.
• West Chester is positioned second at 41-over 325 and Wheeling sits third at 43-over 327.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Junior
Keegan Selinsky leads the team and sits one stroke back of a two-way on the leader board with a six-over 77.
• Selinksy previously fired a career-best 77 in the opening round of the 2021 Vulcan Invitational, also held at Cedarbrook.
• Senior
Morgan Hughes posted a career best with a 13-over 84 on Sunday and sits among the top 20 overall.
• Freshmen
Jessica Ricciardi and
Natalie Zunic both made their college debuts in the opening round.
• Bloomsburg junior Olivia Martinez and Alvernia junior Katie Lapinsky are tied for the individual lead after 18 holes with a five-over 76.
