California swept at home by IUP, 3-0

Favata posts assist/dig double-double in first start of year; Rugiero leads team with double-digit kills

CALIFORNIA (Sept. 22) – The California (PA) volleyball team opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play with a 3-0 loss against IUP on Friday evening at the Convocation Center while playing its first home match in nearly three weeks.

RECORDS/SERIES
• The Vulcans drop to 5-3 overall and start divisional play with a 0-1 mark.
• The Crimson Hawks extend their winning streak to seven matches and improve to 11-4 this season, including a 2-0 record in league action.
• IUP has won the last three meetings in the series after Cal had won four of the previous five matches.

NOTES
• Sophomore Elisa Rugiero led the team with 10 kills, marking her seventh match with double-digit kills this year.
• Junior Allie Droneberger and freshman Sarah Stephenson added eight and six kills, respectively, on Friday.
• Sophomore Adrianna Favata registered an assist/dig double-double with 14 assists and 11 digs in her first extended action of the season.
• Senior Emily Buwawa finished with a team-best 19 digs against IUP.
• The Crimson Hawks entered the match as the leader in NCAA Division II with 139.0 total blocks and tallied 10 blocks in the sweep.
