California claims win at D'Youville, 5-1

Bilous registers two goals in victory; Gretz, Sims each tally a goal, assist while in New York

BUFFALO, N.Y. (Sept. 20) – Led by a multi-goal game from freshman Andriy Bilous and a multi-assist game by senior Cullin Woytovich, the Vulcans rolled to a 5-1 win at D'Youville (N.Y.) in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon.

RECORDS/SERIES
• The California (PA) men's soccer team improves to 2-4-1 overall while earning its road victory of the year.
• The Saints remain winless this season and hold a 0-6 mark before playing a third PSAC opponent this weekend in Seton Hill.
• D'Youville was previously a NCAA Division III program and began competing as a provisional member in the East Coast Conference (ECC) during the 2020-21 academic year.

GAME ACTION
• The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on a goal by senior Tyler Sims with an assist to freshman Jacob Gretz.
• Gretz registered his first career goal at the 32:00-mark on a feed from Woytovich before D'Youville responded just over 90 seconds later.
• Bilous answered in the 55th minute following a pass from Sims and Bilous added his second goal at the 68:30-mark with an assist from Woytovich.
• Cal scored its final goal of the game in the 77th minute when freshman Tyler Screncengost delivered a goal on a feed from sophomore Rutger Randall.
• Sophomore AJ Visco earned his first career win after making two saves on Wednesday.

NOTES
• The five goals by Cal are the most for the program since posting a 5-0 shutout at Pitt-Johnstown on Sept. 25, 2021
• Bilous now leads the team with six points this year while becoming the fourth freshman in last seven years to record a multi-goal game.
• Woytovich is the second player this season to be credited with multiple assists in a contest.
• Sims, an All-PSAC West selection in 2022, collected a goal and assist in the same for the first time in his career.
• Gretz recorded three points on a goal and assist while making his sixth-consecutive start.

• The Vulcans open PSAC West play on Wednesday, Sept. 27, when they host Slippery Rock at 6 p.m.
