Women's Soccer registers win at Clarion, 1-0

Sims scores first career game-winning goal; Ouimet posts eighth shutout of her career

CLARION, Pa. (Sept. 16) – Sophomore Christyana Sims tallied the game-winning goal midway through the second half on Saturday night, as the California (PA) women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory at Clarion in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.

RECORDS/SERIES
• The Vulcans improve to 2-2-1 overall after winning their first game since the season-opener and sit at 1-1-1 in league action.
• The Golden Eagles fall to 1-4-1 this season behind a 1-3 mark in divisional play and have lost three-straight games while being outscored by a 12-0 margin during that span.
• Cal has won three of the last four meetings against Clarion with all three victories being via shutout.

GAME ACTION
• The game was scores at halftime after the teams combined for five shots over the opening 45 minutes.
• The Vulcans scored the lone goal of the contest in the 67th minute when Sims tallied her first career game-winning goal off a double assist from sophomore Reagan Bromiley and freshman Meja Haakansson.
• Clarion attempted seven shots in the second half with only one resulting on target.
• Junior Emily Ouimet made a pair of saves while registering the eighth shutout of her career.

NOTES
• Sims scored the second goal of her career on just her second shot attempt of the season.
• Bromiley and Haakansson were credited with their first career assists.
