CALIFORNIA (Sept. 16) – The California (PA) tennis team claimed a pair of victories in the singles session on Saturday morning despite dropping a 5-2 match against Seton Hill in non-conference play at Roadman Park.
RECORDS/SERIES
• The Vulcans fall to 1-2 overall in dual matches this fall and holds a 1-1 mark against fellow PSAC members.
• Seton Hill opens the year with a 1-0 mark under first-year head coach Megan Satira, who was hired in August.
• The Griffins have won seven-consecutive matches in the series dating back to the 2017-18 campaign.
• Cal and Seton Hill have played a non-conference match in the fall in each of the last two years prior to meeting in league play during the spring.
MATCH NOTES
• The Griffins secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches on Saturday.
• Senior
Carmen Duran and junior
Maria Del Mar Ojeda posted a 6-3 win at the second slot to improve to 3-0 this fall.
• Seton Hill claimed the match victory after earning four wins in the singles session.
• Sophomore
Diletta Maria Mungo moved to 3-0 this season at the first position with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against the Griffins.
• Ojeda also earned her third win of the fall on Saturday by a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 margin at third singles.
• The match was previously scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 17, but was adjusted due to inclement weather in the forecast.
