FROSTBURG, Md. (Sept. 12) – Playing its fifth five-set match already this season, the Vulcans dropped a 3-2 match (23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 14-25, 11-15) at Frostburg State on Tuesday night in non-conference action.
RECORDS/SERIES
• The California (PA) volleyball team falls to 5-2 this season behind a 4-1 mark in five-set matches.
• Frostburg State improves to 5-4 overall after playing its fifth opponent from the PSAC West this fall.
• The Bobcats have won the last two meetings since the Vulcans won the initial meeting in the series in 2021 after Frostburg State became a NCAA Division II program.

• Junior
Allie Droneberger set a career high and led the team with 15 kills on Tuesday night.
• Droneberger added 13 digs for her third kill/dig double-double this year.
• Sophomore
Elisa Rugiero registered her fifth kill/dig double-double of the season, finishing with 10 kills and a career-high 26 digs.
• Junior
Rachel Simon tallied 39 assists and 11 digs for her third assist/dig double, plus added four service aces and two blocks.
• Freshman
Sarah Stephenson collected eight kills, four service aces and two blocks while in Maryland.
• Five players finished with double-digit digs in the match with senior
Emily Buwawa recording a season-high 22 digs in the loss.

Peter Letourneau spent six seasons as head coach at Frostburg State when the program competed at the NCAA Division III level.
• Letoureanu is the winningest coach at both institutions (145 at Frostburg State, 238 at California).
