CALIFORNIA (Aug. 31) – The Vulcans started the year with a 4-0 loss at Frostburg State in non-conference action on Thursday night.
RECORDS/SERIES
• California opened the season by playing a different opponent other than West Virginia Wesleyan for the first time since 2014.
• The Vulcans were playing the Bobcats for the first time since Frostburg State started competing at the NCAA Division II level in 2019.
• Frostburg State was chosen sixth in the preseason MEC poll after earning three league wins in 2022.
GAME ACTION
• Frostburg State scored the opening goal of the game in the 11th minute and later held a 2-0 lead at the break with both goals scored by Carl Quintero Rivas.
• The Bobcats added an insurance goal in the 77th minute before scoring the final goal of the contest in the final 30-plus seconds.
