KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 16) – The California (PA) women's soccer team was honored with the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 academic year on Wednesday afternoon.
To be eligible for the award, teams must hold a minimum cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale for the 2022-23 academic year. The honor is available to all soccer programs at the high school and collegiate levels. United Soccer Coaches recognized a total of 826 soccer programs with over 500 of them being women's programs.
The Vulcans were one of one of six Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams to receive the honor from the United Soccer Coaches this season. Women's soccer finished the spring semester with a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
Cal has now garnered the honor in each of the last six seasons, which is the longest stretch in program history. Additionally, the Vulcans are one out of 189 schools that had both their men's and women's programs receive the academic honor.
