Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) was chosen the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Bernarding cleared the NCAA provisional standard in the 800-meter run for the first time this season on Saturday at the WVU Last Chance. He won the race by six-tenths of a second while setting a personal record with a time of 1 minute, 51.33 seconds. Bernarding is the lone entry from the league to reach the NCAA mark this year, as he boasts the top time in the PSAC in the 800 meters by over three-tenths of a second.
A 5-foot-10 junior, Bernarding also sits second on the league's performance list this spring in the 1,500-meter run. He ranks third overall among entries in the Atlantic Region in the 800 meters and is among the top five in the 1,500 meters.
Bernarding is the third different Cal standout to earn Athlete of the Week honors from the league in 2023.
The Vulcans return to action this weekend at the PSAC Championships hosted by Slippery Rock on May 11-13.
