CALIFORNIA (April 3) – Playing its first home match on campus this spring, the California (PA) tennis team earned a 5-2 victory against Clarion in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Monday afternoon at Roadman Park.
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 7-8 overall with a 1-2 mark in league action. Meanwhile, Clarion falls to 0-7 this season behind a 0-3 record in conference contests.
The Golden Eagles collected the point in doubles competition on Monday afternoon. Freshmen 
Leandra Guldimann (Oberweningen, Switzerland/Kantonsschule Zürich Nord) and 
Diletta Maria Mungo (Padova, Italy/Liceo Classico Tito Livio) suffered a 6-3 loss to Davan Lion and Alexis Strouse at the first slot. Junior 
Carmen Duran (Barcelona, Spain/Esteve Albert) and sophomore 
Maria Del Mar Ojeda (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Americano de Cali) collected a 6-0 victory at the second position versus Josie Beckerleg and Savannah Buttery. At third doubles, junior 
Sierra Everett (Philadelphia, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and sophomore 
Anna Oblock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Canon-McMillan) suffered a 6-3 defeat to Alyson Fisher and Charlie Allison.
Cal won five of the six singles matches to claim the match victory against Clarion. Mungo earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Lion at the first slot followed by Guldimann winning by a 6-3, 6-0 margin at second singles against Strouse. At the third position, Ojeda collected a 6-1, 6-1 victory versus Beckerleg and Duran dealt Fisher a 6-0, 6-1 loss at fourth singles. Junior 
Kylie Feltenberger (Polk, Pa./Franklin) suffered a 6-4, 6-0 defeat to Allison at the fifth slot and sophomore 
Olivia Hoin (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) registered a 6-4, 6-4, 1-0 win against Buttery at sixth singles.
The Vulcans return to action on Friday, April 7, as they host Salem in non-conference play at 3 p.m.
