Penn Relay Results
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (April 30) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's track & field team posted 10 league-qualifying marks while competing at both the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg and the Penn Relays over the weekend.
Senior
Matt Collins (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) placed third overall in the discus throw and set a personal record with a heave of 46.64 meters (153-0.00 feet) on his sixth and final attempt. He now ranks fifth on the conference's performance list this season in the event.
Junior
Ethan Moyer (Harlyesville, Pa./Souderton) qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships in the javelin throw while at Shippensburg. He finished in fourth place with a personal-best distance of 52.52 meters (172-4.00 feet) on his final attempt.
The Vulcans featured a pair of entries that reached the qualifying standard in the 1,500-meter run over the weekend. Freshman
Ian Zimmerman (Bedford, Pa./Northern Bedford County) qualified for the league championships in the event with a time of 3 minutes, 59.56 seconds and placed sixth overall. Junior
Mason Jobe (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) set a personal record and improved his qualifying mark by over three seconds with a time of 4:01.41.
Senior
Avery Boea-Gisler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a conference-qualifying time of 54.85 seconds. Classmate
John Franklin, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) posted a time of 15.41 seconds in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles to place fifth overall at Shippensburg.
Junior
Kristopher Lytle (Columbia, Md./Atholton) reached a league standard in multiple events over the weekend. He placed fourth in the finals of the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.95 seconds and finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.22 seconds.
Sophomore
Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) placed second in the 800-meter run after crossing the finish line in 1:53.63.
At the Penn Relays on Friday, senior
Jalen Cloud (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) finished ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 14.34 meters (47-0.75) on his third attempt. The Vulcans also placed ninth overall, and third in their heat, in the 4x100-meter relay with junior
Tyrese Canada (Richmond, Va./Henrico), Lytle, freshman
Aaron McPherson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) and Cloud posting a time of 42.36 seconds.
